Program Overview
Preferred Mutual’s Summer Internship program takes place between June and August and provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting while gaining valuable professional experience.
Program Highlights Include:
- Day-to-day operational experience within your assigned department
- Meaningful business assignments and defined project work
- Department group projects and a collaborative intern group project
- Lunch & Learn sessions with department leaders
- Leadership meet-and-greets with senior management
- Online learning and professional development opportunities
- Offsite group activities (such as sporting events and business lunches/dinners with our CEO and/or CHRO)
- Participation in our annual company picnic

Housing
Housing can be provided, if needed, and is available exclusively to employees, including interns.
The Preferred Manor is an elegant historic site in New Berlin, NY. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and is open to interns at Preferred Mutual.
What You’ll Do as an Intern
As an undergraduate intern at Preferred Mutual, you will:
- Support your business unit by assisting with specific projects and defined tasks
- Apply academic coursework to team discussions and business decision-making
- Research topics relevant to key business initiatives
- Gain valuable real-world work experience and industry knowledge
- Collaborate with professionals across the organization
