Q: You have been with Preferred Mutual for a long time; can you tell us what your career path has been throughout your tenure?

A: I have been working at Preferred Mutual for 32 years! I started in the file room, then moved to the Purchasing Department a year later, and I have been working there ever since.

Q: How have times changed at Preferred Mutual and what has stayed the same after 32 years at the company?

A: There have been a lot of changes here at Preferred Mutual, but the one thing that remains the same is the way the company cares about the concerns and welfare of the employees, and the generosity that is showed to the employees and their families.

Q: What do you like about being in Purchasing?

A: Being a Purchasing Agent is never dull; there is something new every day and I am always busy. Being able to find that special item that someone is looking for or show someone something new is very rewarding to me.

Q: Why do you think Preferred Mutual is a great place to work?

A: Preferred Mutual is very family-oriented and they care a great deal about you. Everyone is willing to step up and help at any given moment.

Q: Could you describe a great day at work?

A:What makes for a great day at work for me is the employees. Everyone is always smiling, friendly and willing to go the extra mile no matter what. We are like a big extended family.

Q: Do you volunteer or are you involved in any charity events?

A: The New Berlin Fire Department has played a big role in my life and my family. I am an honorary member now, but I still continue to help out whenever and wherever I can. I consider the New Berlin Fire Department as part of my family.

Q: Do you currently or have you previously had a mentor or someone that has influenced you in your career? If so, who and why?

A: I would have to say it would be Beverly Harris. She took me under her wing and taught me the basics of Purchasing. She was a very patient, caring person and loved life to the fullest.

Q: What is a hobby or activity that you enjoy outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my husband, my children and especially my two grandsons. I enjoy riding our motorcycle with our good friends and doing activities with the New Berlin Fire Department.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote and/or influential person or leader that inspires you?

A: “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” I would have to say my parents inspired me.

Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?

A: I married my high school sweetheart, and my husband and I make wine in our spare time.
