Aaron Valentine, Financial Executive of the Year

Aaron J. Valentine, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, was presented with a Financial Executive of the Year Award by the Business Journal News Network and BizEventz. These awards are given to professionals in the Central New York region who have performed exceptionally in their roles as financial managers.
Christopher P. Taft, President and Chief Executive Officer of Preferred Mutual, presented Valentine with his award at the awards luncheon held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. “Aaron is vital in providing strategic direction and oversight for the Company’s finances, Risk Management, Actuarial, and Internal Audit functions,” said Taft. “Beyond Aaron’s contributions toward the financial stewardship of the Company, his vision, integrity, dedication and ability to inspire others is commendable. Aaron is truly deserving of this recognition.”
Valentine began his career with Preferred Mutual in October of 1998, and was promoted to his current position in February 2009.
Through his executive leadership, the Company has been recognized as one of only 18 insurance carriers in the United States that outperformed peers from both a profitability and growth perspective over a 10-year period. During a time marked by a recession and elevated catastrophe activity, the company grew by an annual compounded growth rate of 6.2% while the industry only grew at a rate of 2%.
