The Preferred Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications until February 15, 2019.
Today the Preferred Foundation, a corporate giving entity of Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, announced the opening of the application period for its college scholarships. Exceptional local students with strong academic performance and plans to attend an accredited college/university have until February 15, 2019 to apply for the Preferred Foundation Scholarship or the Preferred Foundation Irad and Jan Ingraham/Honeywell Memorial Scholarship.
Awarded since 1992, Preferred Foundation Scholarships have helped more than 50 students continue their education and pursue their goals. In 2019, two scholarships will be awarded. An advisory committee will evaluate applicants based on their achievements, academic ability, leadership, and community service.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must: 1) be a current high school senior in Otsego, Delaware, or Chenango Counties in New York, 2) have a grade-point average of 95 or better, and 3) plan to enroll in a full-time baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university in fall 2019.
The first place scholarship winner will receive $3,000 each year of college for up to four years, and the second place scholarship winner will receive $1,500 each year for up to four years. The Preferred Foundation Scholarship may be used toward college-related expenses, including room, board, books and other college fees.
